Mrs. Virginia A. `Gina` Higgins, age 85, of Annandale died Wednesday, December 17, 2003 at the Annandale Care Center.
Memorial Mass will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 20, 2003 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Rev. Victor Valencia officiating. Inurnment will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 10-10:45 a.m. Saturday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale.
Virginia Adele `Gina` Higgins was born July 23, 1918 in Minneapolis to Irving S. and Letitia M. (Hebert) Anderson. She graduated from West High School, Minneapolis in 1935 and the University of Minnesota in 1940. She married Bill C. Higgins February 27, 1960 in Minneapolis. She worked for Honeywell Aerospace, Inc. Minneapolis and retired in 1962 as the manager of engineering services. From 1962-82 she translated high school and college French and Spanish textbooks into Braille for the State of Minnesota and the Library of Congress. Gina summered on Bass Lake, rural Annandale from 1924 until becoming a year round resident in 1978. She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale and a charter member of the Women`s Business School Society, University of Minnesota. Gina loved her family, Bass Lake, Annandale, and volunteering.
Gina is survived by her husband, Bill of Annandale; step son, David Higgins of Minneapolis; step granddaughter, Lucy Higgins of Minneapolis; sister, Patricia (Robert) Danaher of Annandale; many nieces; and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Helen Nelson; and brother, Irving V. `Bud` Anderson.
