Obituary

Veronica C. Holmberg, age 96, of Maple Lake died Monday, May 30, 2011 at the Annandale Care Center where she has been a resident the past 2 years.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 3, 2011 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Izen officiating.  Burial will be at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery in Chatham Township.  Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.  There will be a prayer service 5 p.m. Thursday.

Veronica Cecelia Holmberg was born May 15, 1915 in Marysville Township, Wright County to Edward and Emma (Lambert) Lacina.  She was a 1933 graduate of Annandale High School.  On June 23, 1936 she was joined in Holy Matrimony to Walter James Holmberg at St. Anne's Catholic Church in Kimball.  They lived on the original Holmberg homestead farm in Chatham Township, Wright County.  She enjoyed living & working on the farm along with gardening, baking, canning and sewing.  She also worked for a short time at Wonderall in Buffalo.  She especially enjoyed visiting with her family, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women and the Catholic Order of Foresters.

She is survived by her children David (Pat) Holmberg of Maple Lake, Cheryl Rotar of Chicago IL, Jeanne Holmberg of Buffalo, six grandchildren Jim & Brian Clark, Lynn Jensen, Laurie Rumsey, Lois Carlson & Milan Rotar, seven great grandchildren Tyler, Tanner, Trever, Mackenzie, Jay, Megan & Luke, sisters Ann Thompson of Moreno Valley CA, Irma Jensen of New Hope, sisters in law Luella Ahlm of Buffalo and Bernice Robasse of Buffalo.  She was preceded in death by her husband Walter in 1983, an infant daughter Rita, daughter Marion Clark, infant sister Bernice, brothers Lloyd, Danny & Bernard, and sisters Ethel Stuhr, Clara Wolters, Lorraine Lacina & Sally Bodine.

The pallbearers will be Brian Jensen, Ron Rumsey, Jason Carlson, Milan Rotar, Jim Clark & Bryan Clark.  The honorary pallbearers will be Lynn Jensen, Laurie Rumsey and Lois Carlson.  The music for the service will be provided by Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox & Sarah Goelz and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
