Obituary
Mr. Vernon F. Jans, age 82, of Annandale died Sunday October 12, 2003 at the Annandale Care Center.
Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 15, 2003 at Bethlehem United Church of Christ, Maple Lake with Rev. David Martens officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake and after 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday.
Vernon was born October 15, 1920 to William and Emma (Hirsch) Jans at Albion Township, Wright County. He married Helen Heuer on September 25, 1941 at Maple Lake; she preceded him in death on January 21, 1981. He married Marcella Trocke on June 16, 1990 at Lester Prairie. Vernon served in the U.S. Army during WW II and farmed in Albion Township for 45 years. He was a member of Maple Lake VFW Post #7664, Maple Lake American Legion Post #131, ASCS Committee, and Bethlehem United Church of Christ where he served as a member of the church council and cemetery board.
He is survived by his wife, Marcella of Annandale; his children, Jean Carlson and her husband Dave of Elk River, Joan Holverson and her husband Larry of Alexandria, Dennis and his wife Gayle of Lynchburg, SC; grandchildren, Stacey Anderson and her husband Donnie, Brian Jans and his wife Kathryne, great grandchildren, Olivia Jans and Abigail Anderson, all of Lynchburg, SC and his sister in law, Irene Bergstrom of Annandale. His first wife, Helen and brother, Roland preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Gordon Jans, Dale Jans, Glenn Jans, Harold Jans, Elden Hirsch, Alden Hirsch, Delwood Hirsch, Norris Hirsch, Les Eklund, Orlon Krohn, and Scott Sweely. The music for the service will be provided by Pearl Lieb, organist, and Brad Jans and Dale Jans, vocalists.
