Verna L. Rivers, age 92, of Annandale and formerly of Rothsay, died Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at the Annandale Care Center Memory Care Cottages.

Funeral Services will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, April 9, 2011 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Dec. Ron Freeman officiating.  Burial will be at St. Elizabeth Catholic Cemetery in Elizabeth following the services.  Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Saturday, at the funeral home.

Verna Louise Rivers was born September 16, 1918 in Clark, SD to Roy and Anna (Smith) Mack.  She graduated with the Class of 1936 from Clark High School.  On November 2, 1940, Verna was united in marriage to Victor Rivers in Buffalo; he preceded her in death on October 16, 1986 in Rothsay.  She was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale and a former member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Elizabeth and the Christian Mothers in Elizabeth.  Verna enjoyed sewing, baking, gardening and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her two sons & their spouses, Edward & Cheryl of Monticello and Michael & Jan of Annandale; sister, Ella Rivers of Elk River; brother, Walter Mack of Monticello; nine grandchildren and many great grandchildren.  She is preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Anna Mack; husband, Victor; and brothers, Ralph and Eugene Mack.

Pallbearers will be Mike Aitchison, Mike Dircks, Dave Stuedemann, Terry Baxter, Tyler Graunke and Jordan Peterson.  Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
