Vandora June Davis was born to Lars and Minnie (Olson) Knutson on June 28, 1916 in the small town of Boyd, Minnesota.  Van was baptized and confirmed at Boyd Trinity Lutheran Church. She attended school and graduated from Boyd High School in 1935; Van was a star guard for the girl's basketball team.  After graduation, she moved to South Haven to help her sister and brother-in-law care for their children while they owned and operated Pete's Café.  Van was united in marriage to Raymond Davis on June 24, 1938 in Kimball at the Church of Christ parsonage.  To this union, 5 children were born.  After marriage, they remained in the Annandale and South Haven area.  She was known as the popcorn lady when she sold popcorn at the free movies in the South Haven Park.  She then spent 40 years in restaurants serving and making friends with everyone that walked through the door.  She loved to garden, can, bake, sew for her daughters, and have coffee with her friends.  Van was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church where she was active in many small groups within the church; she enjoyed attending Bible studies and serving on lunch committees.  Van loved visiting with people and was known for her special kisses.  Her family was very important to her and she loved spending time with them; she would stay at their houses to be close to her children and grandchildren.

Vandora is survived by her children David (Barb) Davis of Corcoran, Barb (Bernie) Weber of Eden Prairie, Linda (Ron) Dircks of Annandale, Nancy (Glen) Schultz of Annandale and Donna (John) Brand of Eden Prairie, 15 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Raymond; her parents; four brothers Harvey, Merril, Kalmer and Lester Knutson; and three sisters Alice Knutson, Almira Peterson and Iola Nelson.

The pallbearers are Arin Davis, Martin Weber, Ryan and Troy Dircks, Adam and Matthew Schultz, Alex and Jonathan Brand.  The honorary bearers are Cindy Davis, Kim Dornfeld, Natalie Bowker, Gretchen Weber, Molly Merrill, Rebekah Schultz and Lauren Brand.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.

Our mom will always be remembered for her kind words, loving ways, a smile and kiss to warm your heart, and beautiful white hair.  She will remain in our hearts forever.
