Val J. Lawler, age 77, of 965 Park St. E., Annandale died Friday, June 29, 2007 at the Lake Ridge Care Center, Buffalo.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Friends may call after 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the Church. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
Val Joseph Lawler was born July 13, 1929 at Graceville, MN to Joseph and Theresa (Nordman) Lawler. He served during the Korean War being discharged holding the rank of Staff Sergeant in June of 1952 from U.S. Air Force. He married Joan Hayden on September 20, 1952 in St. Paul and in 1953 received his Bachelor`s Degree in Forestry from the University of Minnesota. Val served as the Annandale Postmaster from 1964-1984. He was a member of St. Ignatius Church and served on the Annandale City Council and as Mayor. He enjoyed his family, aircraft, flying, politics, restoring old vehicles and crop farming.
He is survived by his wife, Joan of Annandale; daughter in law, Laurie Lawler of Annandale; and grandson, Benjamin Hayden Lawler of Annandale. His son, Mark and sister, Mary preceded him in death.
