Obituary

Tillie L. Moerke, age 88, of Maple Plain, formerly of Dawson and Rushmore, died Monday, February 13, 2017 at Haven Home of Maple Plain.

Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, February 17, 2017 at First Presbyterian Church of Dawson with Rev. Herbert Rotunda officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service, Friday, at the church and following the service from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Dingmann Funeral Home in Adrian. Burial will be at Sunset Rest Cemetery of Rushmore. Memorials are preferred to First Presbyterian Church of Dawson. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.

Tillie LaDean Moerke was born September 23, 1928 in Hanson County, SD to Paul and Jennie (Buss) Heronimus. She graduated from Luverne High School with the Class of 1946 and she earned her Teaching Certificate from Mankato Normal School in 1947. She taught at two different one room school houses; District 1 in Rock County and District 51 in Nobles County. On January 7, 1949, Tillie was united in marriage to Lawrence Moerke at State Line Ebenezer Presbyterian Church of Ellsworth. Together they raised their family and operated dairy farms in Boone County, IL and Rushmore, MN. In 1981 they retired from farming and worked for the Dairy Herd Improvement Association in West Central Minnesota. Tillie was an active member of First Presbyterian Church of Dawson and East Friesland Presbyterian Church of Rushmore. Tillie enjoyed making wedding and birthday cakes, sewing, reading, collecting tea cups and completing cross word puzzles.

She is survived by her children Glenn (Colleen) Moerke of Pelican Rapids, Brenda Moerke of Salem, SD, Penny Jaskulke of Brandon, FL and Jerri (Greg) Hiniker of Hanover; four grandchildren Megan Moerke, Molly (Ryan) Welch, Taylor and Taryn Jaskulke; three great grandchildren Ellie, Jack and Griffin Welch; sisters and brothers Beverly Aggen of Rushmore, George (Phyllis) Heronimus of Ellsworth, John (Sheryl) Heronimus of Steen and Janice (Dale) Eads of Worthington; and brother-in-law Dennis Moerke. She is preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Moerke; parents Paul and Jennie Heronimus; and grandson Tyler Jaskulke.
