Susan Denise Belan (nee Nilson), age 43, of Brooklyn Park, formerly of Annandale died peacefully surrounded by her family due to cancer on Sunday, September 9, 2007 at Fairview University Hospital, Minneapolis.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, September 14, 2007 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating and Rev. DJ Lura preaching. Burial will follow in St. John's Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Thursday with a prayer service at 7 p.m at St. John's Lutheran Church and also one hour prior to services on Friday.

Susan Denise Belan was born March 6, 1964 in St. Cloud to Maynard A. Nilson and Shirley M. (Nyholm) Figge. On April 5, 1964 she was Baptized in Christian faith and on October 15, 1994 married John Belan III, both at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale. She was an Administrative Assistant for Xcel Energy, Minneapolis and was formerly employed by U.S. Bank & Honeywell. She was very active with volunteer work being an Auxiliary member & newsletter editor of American Legion Post #630, Brooklyn Center and Auxiliary member of VFW Post #3915, Brooklyn Park. She enjoyed time spent with family & friends and being the favorite aunt to her nieces & nephews.

She is survived by her husband, John Belan III of Brooklyn Park; parents, Maynard & Betty Nilson of Annandale and Shirley & Don Figge of Maple Lake; sisters, brother & their spouses, Julie & Tom Kiernan of Buffalo, Trisha & Scott Rollag of Monticello, Scott & Michelle Nilson of South Haven; step brother, Tim (Michelle) Engle of Annandale, step sister, Carrie Engle of Annandale; mother in law, Theresa Belan of Osseo; sister in law, Karen Cason of Brooklyn Park; nieces & nephews, Kelly, Allison, Matt, Ben, Kelsey, Tanner, Tylor, Laura, Angelique, Nicole, Bridget & Becky. She was preceded in death by grandparents, Emil & Laura Nilson and Carl & Florence Nyholm; father in law, John Belan, Jr.; and sister in law, Colleen Edins.

The pallbearers will be Scott Nilson, Scott Rollag, Tom Kiernan, Timothy Engle, Ed Lewellyn and Terry Doonan. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
