Mr. Stephen J. Vargo, age 85, of Annandale died Thursday, December 11, 2003 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 a.m. Thursday, December 18, 2003 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Rev. Mark Willenbring officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Friends may call from 5 - 8 p.m. Wednesday and 8:30-9:30 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. There will be a prayer service 6 p.m. Wednesday.
Stephen Joseph Vargo was born September 22, 1918 at Minneapolis to Stephen and Anna (Hopko) Vargo. He married Frances B. Bednark August 24, 1940 at Minneapolis and served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He was employed by McQuay, Inc. Minneapolis for 41 years as a Design Engineer; before retiring in 1982. Stephen lived in Albion Township, Wright County for 32 years and has been a resident of St. Mary`s Care Center, Winsted the past 2 years. He was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale. He loved his family, his summer home on Maple Lake, fishing, being outdoors, flying the American Flag, and he could fix almost anything.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Frances of Annandale; three sons, Leonard of Annandale, Ronald (Andrea) of Cokato, James (Deborah) of West Bloomington; six grandsons; and four great granddaughters. His parents; and three sisters, Mary, Ann, and Irene preceded him in death.
Pallbearers will be Keith, Martin, Brian, Daniel, and Christopher Vargo, and Dave Priez. Music for the funeral provided by Dureen Gasser.
