Ruth E. Swanson, age 89 of Buffalo, formerly of Annandale died Saturday, January 30, 2010 at her home at Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo.
Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 4, 2010 at Grace Lutheran Church, South Haven. Burial will follow in Grace Lutheran Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church. A prayer service will be held 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Ruth Evelyn Swanson was born January 8, 1921 in French Lake Township to John and Anna (Engstrom) Olson. She was baptized and confirmed at North Crow River Lutheran Church and was married to Carl Ernest Swanson on April 19, 1947 at the North Crow River Parsonage in Knapp. Ruth lived in French Lake Township on a farm all of her life, until 1980 when she moved into town in Annandale. In 2004, Ruth was diagnosed with Alzheimer's and moved to Sunrise Cottages in Buffalo. She was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Rural South Haven, where she was active in WELCA over the years. Ruth enjoyed gardening, flowers, embroidery, and traveling and fishing with her sisters.
She is survived by three children, Roxanne Lunderby of Watertown, Brenda (David) Harkman of Big Lake and Tim of Annandale; sister, Mae Juul of Annandale; seven grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl; daughter, Beverly Neuman; an infant son; granddaughter, Amanda Swanson; son-in-law, Gary Lunderby; sisters, Mildred Olson, Corrine Johnson, Doris Myhre and Bernice Peterson; brothers, Clarence and Earl Olson.
Pallbearers will be David Harkman, Brian Lunderby, Tom Harkman, Rick Kangas, Joe Eenhuis and Greg Johnson. Arrangments are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
