Obituary
Ruth E. Ecker, age 93, of Kimball died Monday, May 12, 2014 at the Heritage House of Kimball.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 15, 2014 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Pastor Ken Felska officiating. Burial will follow at Zion United Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services, Thursday, at the church.
Ruth Esther Ecker was born April 2, 1921 in Kingston to Kaarlo "Charles" and Ida (Kinnula) Leppa. She graduated from Litchfield High School. After high school, Ruth worked as the Clerk of Court in Meeker County. On October 27, 1943, she was united in marriage to Ernest Ecker in Minneapolis. Later, Ruth worked as the secretary at Kimball High School, retiring in 1974. She was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, where she served on the U.M.W. and was a past financial secretary. Ruth enjoyed doing cross word puzzles, baking, gardening and going on daily walks.
She is survived by her children Karen Lawson of France, Randy of Kimball, Robert "Bob" of Estes Park, CO and Richard (Dory) of Kimball; 6 grandchildren Sarah, Rachael, Emily, Andy, Elissa and Alison; and 7 great grandchildren Ella, Faith, Dominic, Zach, Brynne, Claudia and Wilson. She is preceded in death by her parents Charles & Ida Leppa; husband Ernest Ecker; grandson Jeremy Ecker; brothers Carl, Heino and Armond Leppa; and sisters Irene Williams, Hilma Leppa and Meriam Vincent.
The pallbearers will be Emily and Andy Ecker, Sarah Jorgenson and Rachael Walker. Jamie Miller will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
