Russell W. Walberg, age 99, of South Haven died Friday, April 1, 2016 at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, April 5, 2016 at Annandale United Methodist Church with Rev. Ruth Hograbe officiating.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale.  Visitation will be held 4-7 p.m. Monday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church.

Russell William Walberg was born October 31, 1916 in French Lake to Gustav and Amanda (Opsahl) Walberg.  He grew up in French Lake and attended Kane Country School.  On October 16, 1954, he was united in marriage to Nola Margaret Madsen in Annandale.  Russell farmed prior to working in road construction as a heavy equipment operator.  He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church of French Lake and the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 49.  Russell loved sports and was a great baseball player.  He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

He is survived by his wife Nola; children & their spouses Darrell & JoAnn of Litchfield, Rick & Renee of Annandale and Jerry & Joni of Annandale; eight grandchildren Daniel, Steven, Michael, David, Dana, Michelle, Erin and Nicholas; eleven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren; sisters Gladys Peterson of Waverly, Arlene Buranen of Annandale, Elsie (Ed) Sund of Silverdale, WA and Pearl (Mark) Fobbe of Maple Lake; and sisters-in-law Patricia Walberg of Fridley and Irene Walberg of Brainerd.  He is preceded in death by his parents Gust and Amanda Walberg; sisters Celeste Lange and Bernice Johnson; and brothers Milton, Alden, Ernold, John and Clifford Walberg.

The casket bearers will be Daniel, Steven, Michael, David and Nicholas Walberg and Dave Macalena.  Sharon Planer and Carol Rhoe will provide the music for the service.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
