Obituary
Mr. Russell C. Howard, age 77, of Annandale died Thursday, November 13, 2003 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 17, 2003 at Annandale United Methodist Church with Rev. Marilee Benson officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the funeral Monday at the church. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral chapel.
Russ Clayton Howard was born July 29, 1926 in Annandale to Leonard and Eleanor (McDonald) Howard. He was a 1944 graduate of Annandale High School. Russ married Doris M. Houchins October 22, 1946 in Annandale; she preceded him in death May 7, 1998. He lived in Annandale all his life where he owned and operated Howard`s Plumbing and Heating for 31 years before retiring in 1992. Russ was a member of Annandale United Methodist Church, Annandale Snowmobile Club, Annandale Conservation Club, and a 36 year member of the Annandale Fire Department of which 25 years he was Fire Chief. He loved cooking, gardening, hunting, and fishing.
Russ is survived by his children, Marv (Karin) of Annandale, Joanne (Jim) Simones of South Haven, Susan (Mark) Huro of South Haven, Jim and friend, Phyliss of Annandale; brother, Don (Alice) of Coon Rapids; grandchildren, Bret (Ann) Howard, Katie (Jeff) Jones, Aaron (Delma) Salmela, Troy Salmela, Jeremiah Simones, Sheri (Josh) Riewerts, Jesse, Corey, and Rusty Staten, Amber, Mindy, and Cole Howard; great grandchildren, Collin, Cameron, and Jack Howard, Logan and Landon Jones, Jeremiah and Eloura Riewerts. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; and sister, Bea Erlandson.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Salmela, Troy Salmela, Bret Howard, Jeff Jones, Cole Howard, and Jeremiah Simones. Music for the funeral provided by Floyd Brown, soloist and Sharon Planer, organist.
