Russell A. Finneman, age 85, of Annandale died Monday, April 20, 2015 at his home.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Friday, April 24, 2015 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Pastor David Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Immanuel Lutheran Church in French Lake. Visitation will be two hours prior to the service at the church.
Russell Amon Finneman was born April 1, 1930 in Eden Valley to Valentine and Frances (Moser) Finneman. He was raised in Meeker County and attended Eden Valley High School. Russell served his country from 1951-1953 in the U.S. Army in the Korean War; he was discharged from the U.S. Army Reserves in 1959 as a Staff Sargent. He was awarded the Purple Heart for injuries sustained in the war. On September 4, 1954, Russell was united in marriage to Betty Louise Strom in Eden Valley. They made Minneapolis their home until moving to Annandale in 1971. Russell worked as a forklift operator and associate foreman for Model Stone Company in Richfield for 38 years, retiring in 1992. He was a lifetime member of the Maple Lake V.F.W. Post 7664 and the Disabled American Veterans.
He is survived by his wife Betty of Annandale; son Jerry (Pam) Finneman of Annandale; daughter in law Claudia Finneman of Annandale; four grandchildren Joe, Nate, Jennifer and Nick Finneman; four great grandchildren Emma, Layla, Gunner and Grace; and sister-in-law Marlys Finneman. He is preceded in death by his parents Valentine and France (Moser) Finneman; infant daughter Ruth Ann Finneman; son Gary Finneman; brothers Raynold, Elmo, Hubert and Leo Finneman; and sisters Teresa Arneson, Aurelia Friedmen and Marie Keough.
The pallbearers will be John Wuollet, Joe, Nick and Nate Finneman, Josh Rosten and Pete Flatten. The Maple Lake V.F.W. / American Legion Honor Guard and the Army National Guard Honor Guard will provide the military honors. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
