Obituary

Rudolph "Rudy" Maurer, Sr., age 88, of South Haven, died peacefully on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the St. Cloud Hospital.

Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, May 4, 2026, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven with visitation one hour prior to the service. Rev. Terrill Bramstedt will officiate. Burial will follow at Concordia Lutheran Cemetery.

Rudolph Herman Maurer was born April 14, 1938, in Fairhaven, Minnesota to Rhinehardt and Ethel (Driver) Maurer. He attended Kimball High School and was a lifelong resident of the South Haven area except for a few years when he lived in Milwaukee and Minneapolis. Rudy was united in marriage to Marion Magnuson on January 4, 1957, in Iowa. Together, they raised a family that included their four children in the South Haven area. They were faithful members of Concordia Lutheran Church in Fairhaven. Prior to founding Rudy's Trucking in 1975, Rudy worked in road construction.

Rudy was a true jack of all trades who found satisfaction in building not just his business but also his home alongside his brothers. He cherished the outdoors, embracing the thrill of hunting, ice fishing, cruising on his golf cart, and found peace in the beauty of camping. Rudy liked attending WE Fest in Detroit Lakes, where he enjoyed listening to country music and the company of family and friends. He was always up for playing cards, especially a game of euchre. His love for his family also included his loyal dogs, Hermie and Bentley.

Rudy is survived by his wife Marion; children, Rev. Rudolph (Becky) Maurer of New Richland, Donald (Debbie) Maurer of Fairhaven, Debra (Brian) Flygare of Fairhaven, and Bonnie (Eric) Thorstad of Dassel; grandchildren, Rudolph III (Kathy) Maurer, Gretchen (Matt) Gosch, Brittany (Jared) Gillman, Autumn (Kevin) Froslan, Nicholas (Holly) Maurer, Heidi Patnode, and Brooke Engelby (George Mangiarelli); 14 great-grandchildren, Myleen, Ashlie, Ezekiel, Amos, Silas, Adah, River, Edwin, Rhys, Oliver, Mabel, Enid, Milo, and Zander; siblings, Eva Alama, George (Pat) Maurer, Jerry Maurer, and Lora (Tom) Wittrock; and many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Rhinehardt and Ethel; siblings, Floyd "Mike" Maurer, Bertha Miller, Gladys Marschel, Helen Zeis, and Mildred Fredrick.

The urn bearers will be Rudy's grandchildren. Lynn Hoff will be provide the music for the services. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
