Royal L. Beckman, age 79, of Maple Lake died Saturday, July 28, 2007 at the Annandale Care Center.
Memorial services will be held 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 1, 2007 at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Maple Lake. Rev. Peter Martinson and Rev. Steven King will officiate and burial will be in Maple Lake Community Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday at the church.
Royal Lee Beckman was born June 12, 1928 in Minneapolis to Joseph and Cyla (Hoberg) Beckman. He served his country as a Corporal in the US Army. Royal married Donna May Johnson in Minneapolis on September 17, 1949. They lived in Minneapolis until moving to Maple Lake in 1962. He owned and operated Ceramic Tile by Royal and Crescent Ridge Resort on Cedar Lake. Royal was a member of Maple Lake Lions Club, Maple Lake American Legion Post 131, Maple Lake Commercial Club, Fair Haven Masonic Lodge 182, Shriners and was a charter member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church. He loved the outdoors and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Donna May; children, Sharon (Stephen) Paumen of Maple Lake and Joseph (Cynthia) Beckman of Monticello; nine grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delmar, Everett and Paul Beckman; and sisters, Bernice Marcy and Helen Skranka.
Urn bearers will be Sharon Paumen and Joseph Beckman Kurt Johnson, pianist and Perry Sloneker, soloist will provide the music for the service. Arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
