Roger J. Wurm, age 76, of Maple Lake, died peacefully at home under hospice care on March 31, 2015 surrounded by the love and care of his family.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m., April 7, 2015 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Chatham Township. Visitation will be 8:30-10:15 a.m. Tuesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
Roger J. Wurm was born September 13, 1938 at home in Corinna Township to Russell and Lorraine (Cordell) Wurm. He was baptized and confirmed in his faith at St. Timothy. On September 13, 1958 Roger was united in holy matrimony to Marilyn M. Paumen at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake. To this union, six children were born. Roger spent his working years in the sewer and water construction trade. He was a former member of the Union Local #563. He took an early retirement from this career and worked as the maintenance manager at the Maple Lake American Legion. Roger was a retired member of the Maple Lake Fire Department. He enjoyed collecting Hamm's Beer memorabilia and woodworking. He could fix anything and liked to spend time tinkering in his garage. Roger took great pride in his vehicles, his lawn and most importantly, his family.
Roger is survived by his wife of 56 years, Marilyn of Maple Lake; sons, Roger (Charlene) and Rodney, both of Maple Lake; daughters, Sister Margaret Wurm, OSB of St. Joseph, Marion (Jeanne) of North St. Paul, Monica Scheiber of Maple Lake and Marsha (Robert) Ergen of Clearwater; grandchildren, Josh (Staci) Wurm, Amanda Wurm, Jessica Hauwiller-Wurm, Kayla (Jake) Elsenpeter, and Kevin Scheiber; great grandchildren, Wyatt and Kash Wurm, Lucas Elsenpeter, Hunter Scheiber; and step grandchildren, Jamie Tody, Josh (Katie) Tody, Hailey, Tyler and Ryan Ergen; siblings, Lawrence (Carol) of Maple Lake, Howard (Joyce) of Albertville, Marilyn (Dave) Hochstedler of St. Michael, Les (Jeannine), Clifford, Marlene Mavencamp, and Mark (Jackie) Wurm, all of Maple Lake; brothers and sisters-in-law, Duane Paumen, Dennis (Mary) Paumen, William (Phyllis) Paumen, Fred (Virginia) Paumen, and Joni (Jeff) Whittaker; many nieces, nephews, and other family and friends; and his beloved dog, Stella. He is preceded in death by his parents, father and mother-in-law, John and Alma Paumen, sisters-in-law, Carol Smith Wurm and Patricia Paumen Mavencamp, brother-in-law, Mike Mavencamp, and niece Theresa Paumen.
The urn bearers will be Roger's grandchildren Joshua Wurm, Amanda Wurm, Jessica Hauwiller-Wurm, Kayla Elsenpeter and Kevin Scheiber. The Maple Lake Fire Department will serve as honorary urn bearers. Marge Pavlik and St. Timothy's Resurrection Choir will provide music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
