Robert L. Segner, age 77 of Maple Lake died Monday, April 13, 2009 at his home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, April 16, 2009 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake. Fr. Michael Izen will officiate and burial will be in St. Charles Catholic Cemetery, Chatham Township. Friends may call from 4-7:30 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Parish prayers will be 7:00 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Robert Louis Segner was born November 3, 1931 in Minneapolis to Andrew and Bernice Segner. He went to school in Annandale and served his country on Destroyers in the Mediterranean in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Robert married Elizabeth Plude on November 12, 1955 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Dayton. He worked at the Creamery in Maple Lake before working at Kraft Foods in Plymouth for 27 years, retiring in 1993. Bob was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church in Maple Lake. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, being with his family and his beloved dachshunds.
He is survived by his wife, Betty; daughters and their husbands, Mary Lou & Jeff Nygaard of Howard Lake and Susie & John Kruse of Eden Prairie; grandchildren, Eric and Amber Nygaard, Kristen, Courtney, Caitlin and Kelly Kruse; brothers, Jim & Trudy of Annandale and Tom of Maple Lake. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Pallbearers will be Eric Nygaard, Andy, Paul and Kurt Segner, Ben and Al Cyr. Krista Elsenpeter Tarbox and Sarah Goelz will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Maple Lake.
