Robert "Bob" Odenthal, age 84, of Maple Lake, died Sunday, June 25, 2023, at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Private burial will be held at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Robert Mathew Odenthal was born January 9, 1939, in Watertown, Minnesota to Albert and Florence (Pillaski) Odenthal. Bob grew up in the Delano area and attended school at St. Peter's Catholic School and Delano High School. Bob served in the United States Army from 1957-1960. Upon his honorable discharge, Bob returned home to Minnesota. On January 17, 1977, he was united in marriage to Barbara (Thaemert) Wandersee in Las Vegas, Nevada. They made their home in Maple Lake. For over 22 years, Bob owned and operated The Fishing Hole, a tropical fish store in Minneapolis, before retiring in 1991. He was a longtime member of St. Timothy Catholic Church, as well as a former member of the Maple Lake American Legion. Bob enjoyed being in the outdoors; hunting big game, fishing, or tending to his gardens. He liked to play cards, as well as board games, especially Aggravation. He truly enjoyed being in the presence of his family. Bob is survived by his wife of 46 years, Barb of Maple Lake; children, Robert (Paulette) Odenthal Jr. of Prior Lake, Kathleen (Deane) Solberg of Bemidji, Carol (Greg) Mills of Elk River, and Joyce Glassel of Eden Prairie; 9 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; siblings, Alberta (Gilbert) Scheiber of Delano, Jerome (Bonnie) of Big Lake, and Joseph (Judy) of Watertown; and nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandson, Cody; and brother, Lawrence. Greg Mills, Deane Solberg, Bob Odenthal, Jr., Steve Odenthal, Bruce Thorson, Lindsay Mills, and Taylor Mills will serve as casket bearers.
