Dr. Robert D. Mackereth, age 89, of Annandale died Saturday, January 23, 2010, at the Annandale Care Center.
Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with funeral services held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 27, 2010, at Zion Lutheran Church, Annandale. Interment will be at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale.
Dr. Robert Dale Mackereth was born August 23, 1920, at Kimball to C. Bryan and Mae E. (Ellis) Mackereth. He was a 1937 graduate of Kimball High School and 1943 graduate of the School of Veterinary Medicine at Iowa State University in Ames. Doc then practiced Veterinary Medicine in Central Minnesota until retiring in 1968. He married Marsella M. Hinz on January 25, 1944, in Kimball. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the Minnesota Veterinary Medical Assn., and was a charter member of the Annandale Lions Club. He was instrumental in the building of Kimball Golf Club and served as a board member.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 66 years Marsella of Annandale, 7 children and their spouses Dale & Anne of Minneapolis, Jon & Cheryl of Afton, George of Minneapolis, Janet & Laurie Reardon of Wayzata, Alan & Diane of Monticello, Bryan & Sharon of Annandale, Joel & Laurie of Buffalo, sisters-in-law Betty Mackereth of Kimball, Shirley Mackereth of Duluth, brothers-in law Orville Nelson of Thief River Falls, Luvern Hinz of Kimball, and 14 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers Leslie, Dean, and Glenn, and sisters Alice Dammann & Doris Nelson.
The urnbearer will be Heather Mackereth and the other grandchildren will be honorary pallbearers. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
