Renee grew up in rural Watkins, alongside her five siblings. She attended grade school in a small country school and was a 1966 graduate of Eden Valley High School. On April 20, 1974, Renee married Gerald Brutger at St. Gertrude Catholic Church in Forest City. They made their home in Watkins before settling in Maine Prairie Township in 1979 where they raised their family. When her boys were young, Renee worked as a cook at the school in Kimball, as well as at Animal Fair in Eden Valley. She then began factory work for LPC, Innovex, and Tech Etch in Litchfield. In her journey of life, Renee was a woman of unwavering strength and simplicity. With a warm smile and gentle demeanor, she approached each day with a heart full of compassion and a spirit of generosity. Renee found joy in the simple pleasures of life, such as indulging in puzzles, card games, sewing, and trying her luck at the casino. She took great delight in preparing meals for her loved ones, where even her grandchildren would place their food orders ahead of visiting. Her culinary prowess was surpassed only by the love she poured into every dish she created. Through the years, she crafted cherished memories with her family, leaving an indelible mark on their hearts. Renee graced this earth with her presence, embodying traits of patience, kindness, and selflessness. Renee is survived by her husband of 50 years, Gerald of Kimball; her sons, Jeremy (Melissa) of Hanover and Jeff (Becky) of Kimball; grandchildren, Jackson, Julia, Jared, Josie, Ali, and Lolly; siblings, Diane (Les) Young of Litchfield, Adrian (Sue) Meyer of Watkins, Arlis (Gary) Klein of Watkins, Marlene (Dennis) Landwehr of Watkins, Edmund (Christy) Meyer of Grove City; sister-in-law, Phyllis Kunkel of Plymouth; and many nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
