Raymond R. Raisanen, age 80, of Annandale died Thursday, August 18, 2011 at his home.
Funeral services will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, August 22, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Pastor Paul Nolting officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery in French Lake Township, Wright County. Friends may call from 3-7 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a time of sharing at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Raymond Ronald Raisanen was born October 8, 1930 in Albion Township, Wright County to Ivar and Ida (Annala) Raisanen. He graduated from Annandale High School and married Doris Kangas on June 12, 1954. He was a farmer and a heavy equipment operator. From 1950-1978 he was the Treasurer of the Albion Township Board and then for the next 21 years became the Albion Township Maintenance Supervisor. Ray was a member of IUOE Union Local 49 and enjoyed polka music, sauna time, reading newspapers, baseball, football, & time spent with his family especially his grandchildren. He always had a smile on his face and a skip in his step.
He is survived by his wife Doris of Annandale, children Ronald (Nancy) of South Haven, Diane (Paul) Bode of Madison Lake, Peggy of Annandale, Jerry (Fay) of South Haven, Eric of Annandale, grandchildren Ryan, Nadine, Rebecca, Bethany, Nathan, Harley & Max, great grandchildren, Hunter & Julia, sisters Ida Hanson of Annandale, Anna (John) Dunderi of Clearwater, and sisters in law Gloria Raisanen of Annandale, Joan Raisanen of Buffalo, & Lois Price of Maple Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Myrtle Yonak, Mildred Beehler, & Arlene Nolan, and brothers Edwin, Melvin, John, & Ralph.
The pallbearers will be Ryan Raisanen, Mike Walz, Sean Fleming, Stan Peppin, Nate Raisanen, & Max Bode. Hunter Walz will be the honorary pallbearer. The music for the service will be provided by Pastor Paul Nolting, Diane Bode and Karla Olmanson. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
