Ramona L. Popp, age 60 of Annandale died Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the St. Cloud Hospital after a brave three year battle with breast cancer.
Memorial Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, October 3, 2011 at Tri-County Alliance Church, Clearwater with Rev. Tony Stanley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Hope Cemetery in Clearwater. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Monday at the church. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home. Memorials are preferred to the Coborn Cancer Center in St. Cloud.
Ramona Lee Popp was born August 31, 1951 in Monticello to Gerald and Dorothy (Lee) Hill. She was a 1969 graduate of Annandale High School and went on to receive a degree in Social Work from Mankato State University in 1973. On May 21, 1976, Mona was united in marriage to Ronald Russell Popp at St. John's Lutheran Church in Annandale. She worked as a Wright County social worker for 2 years before working as a school social worker in the Buffalo Schools for the last 33 years. Mona was a member of Tri County Alliance Church, was a past President of the Minnesota School Social Work Association, served on the Wright County Child Abuse Team and was the 2000 Minnesota School Social Worker of the Year. She enjoyed crocheting, shopping, floral gardening, swimming, relaxing in the sun, reading and traveling. She loved to be with children and to spend time with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Ron; daughters, Marissa of Annandale and Alana of St. Paul; sisters and brother, Elizabeth Thompson of Annandale, Steve Hill & his wife, Patty of Annandale, Sue Schindele of Annandale and Sally Wurzburger & her husband, Howard, of Waite Park; sister in law, Sue Viehauser; many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews; and her favorite dog, Sophie. She is preceded in death by her parents, Gerald and Dorothy.
Urn Bearers will be Nathan Schindele and Charles Thompson. Lucy Jensen and Sue Viehauser will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
