Rachel F. Walberg, age 90, of Annandale died Friday, November 23, 2012 at the Annandale Care Center.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, November 28, 2012 at St. John's Lutheran Church, Annandale with Rev. Dave Nelson officiating. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, French Lake. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to the service, Wednesday, at the church. A prayer service will be held 5 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
Rachel Faith Walberg was born December 17, 1921 at home in French Lake to Jacob and Anna (Nicka) Lantto. She graduated from Cokato High School. On October 11, 1941, she was united in marriage to Lloyd Walberg in Minneapolis. She owned and operated Rachel's Café in South Haven prior to moving to Backus, where she worked as a nurse's assistant at Aw-Guah-Ching Santorium in Walker. Rachel enjoyed playing cards, listening to Minnesota Twin's baseball, crocheting, and spending time with family.
She is survived by her children Judith Hultgren of Superior, WI, Michael of Chaska and Patricia (Richard) Ryan of Brainerd; sisters Betty Jane (Clinton) Lambert of Buffalo and Viola Frederick of Annandale; brother Kenny (Barb) Lantto of Edina; 12 grandchildren Scott, Christopher, Patrick, Douglas, Chad, Pamela, Tonya, Michelle, Stephanie, Christopher, Erik and Cassandra; and 27 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Lloyd; daughter Shirlee Fieldseth; son in law Craig Hultgren; 10 brothers and 4 sisters.
Pallbearers will be Christopher and Erik Walberg, Scott, Christopher, Patrick, Douglas and Chad Hultgren. Orma Lou Jacobsma will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
