Paul E. "Sarge" Maske, age 90 of Annandale died Friday, February 26, 2010 at the Annandale Care Center.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 1, 2010 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball with Fr. Thomas Olson celebrating the Mass. Inurnment will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with the Ft. Snelling Memorial Rifle Squad performing the military honors. Friends may call one hour prior to the services, Monday at the church.
Paul Edwin Maske was born February 14, 1920 in Sterling, Illinois to Richard and Mabel (Little) Maske. He served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 33 years, retiring from active duty on May 11, 1960 and retiring from the reserves on October 31, 1970 as a Gunnery Sergeant. He honorably served in World War II and the Korean War. Sarge lived in many places during his service in the Marine Corps before moving to Bloomington and finally settling in Annandale. While living in Bloomington, he worked for the Minnesota Twins, Vikings & Kicks. On July 24, 1981, he was united in marriage to Irene Shaw on Mackinac Island in Michigan. He enjoyed hunting & fishing and loved to tell stories & make people laugh. He was a friend to everyone he met & could carry on a conversation with anyone.
He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Irene; daughters, Paulette Olsen of Burnsville, Linda Andreasen of Bloomington and Cora Leigh (Larry) Price of Colorado Springs, CO; step-children, Daniel (Nanette) Christinsen of Rochester, Dorene (Dwayne) Anderson of Becker and Darin (Cindy) Christinsen of Buffalo, MO; four grandchildren and six step-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Hubert; and sisters, Helen, Vera and Mildred.
The urnbearer will be Matthew Anderson. St. Anne's Choir and Frosty Schiefelbein will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
