Oscar J. Theis, age 87, of Country Manor Campus, Sartell and formerly of Kimball, died Tuesday, August 5, 2003 at his residence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 8, 2003 at St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball with Rev. David Grundman and Deacon Steve Yanish officiating. Burial will follow in St. Anne Cemetery. Friends may call 4-8 p.m. Thursday and 9-10 a.m. Friday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball. A prayer service will be held 7 p.m. Thursday.
Oscar J. Theis was born July 1, 1916 at Watkins to Nicholas and Theresa (Miller) Theis. He married Luella Dahnke September 17, 1940 in St. Anne Catholic Church, Kimball. He farmed for 4 years near Kimball, worked for the Kimball Creamery for 9 years, managed the Kimball Municipal Liquor Store for 25 years, retiring in 1979 and was also employed by Dingmann Funeral Care for 30 years. Oscar served as Mayor of Kimball for 10 years, was a member of the Kimball Lions Club, and former member of the Kimball Fire Dept. and Waite Park Moose Lodge. He was an active member of St. Anne Catholic Church, serving as an usher and Eucharistic minister. Fishing, hunting, camping and saw sharpening were some of Oscar`s favorite activities.
He is survived by his wife, Luella of Kimball; children & their spouses, Audrey & DelRay Anders of Litchfield, Don & Liz Theis of Ramsey and Doris & Arnie Mead of Clear Lake; 9 grandchildren; 9 great grandchildren plus one due in October; also many nieces and nephews. Brothers, Matt & Albert and sister, Katherine VanNurden preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Bruce & Barrett Anders, Brad Shropshire, Duane, Scott, & Brad Theis, Steve Mead, and Pat Briggs. Frosty Schiefelbein, organist and the St. Anne Choir will provide the music.
