Orville W. Paumen age 85, of Maple Lake, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 10, 2020 at the St. Cloud Hospital. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 16, 2020 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Charles Catholic Cemetery. Walk-through visitation will be held from 9:00-10:00 a.m. on Wednesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's website. Orville William Paumen was born July 14, 1935 on the family farm, near Maple Lake, Minnesota to Jacob and Minnie (Wurm) Paumen. He was the 7th of 8 children. Orville attended country school in Corinna Township before attending Maple Lake High School. At the age of 16, he ran the family farm while his brothers were sent off to war. He married the love his life, Rita Scanlon on June 11, 1955 at St. Timothy Catholic Church. Orville's life revolved around his faith, family, friends, hard work, hunting, fishing, camping, and a good game of cribbage. As a young man he worked the family farm with his parents and Rita, prior to owning a bulk fuel truck and Mobil gas station. He then worked many years as a construction foreman, retiring in 1996. He was a lifelong member of St. Timothy Catholic Church.
Orville is survived by his wife of 65 years, Rita of Maple Lake; children, Kevin (Joan) of Maple Lake, Clyde of Omaha, NE, Colleen (Tom) Morrison of Big Lake, Betsy (Tim) Gruchow of Park Rapids, Kenny (Margaret) of Maple Lake, and Jake (Autum) of Monticello; daughter-in-law, Joyce of Lakeville; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Beatrice (Doug) Psyk; sister-in-law, Eileen Norris; nieces, nephews, other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry; father, Jake; mother; step-mother, Mary Beauchamp Paumen; Minnie; parents-in-law, Joe Scanlon, Edna Scanlon Steman and Mike Steman; daughter-in-law, Shawn Paumen; brothers, Clayton, Clifford, and Lester; sisters, Margaret Rathje and Doris Vieau Guggemos and their spouses; sister-in-law, Joann (Virgil) Streich; and brother-in-law, Ray Norris.
Orville's grandchildren will serve as urn bearers. Sarah Goelz will provide music for the service.
