Oral `Bill` Moody, age 74, of Monticello, formerly Annandale, died Friday, January 13, 2006 at his residence.
Visitation will be after 3 pm with Memorial Service held at 4 pm Saturday, January 21, 2006 at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale. Memorials are preferred to St. Cloud Hospital Hospice or American Cancer Society.
Oral William Thomas Moody, Jr. was born Sept. 6, 1931 in Glenville, GA to Oral William Thomas Moody, Sr. and Vivian Stubbs Moody. He was a decorated soldier, serving six years in the U.S. Air Force & 18 months in Okinawa. After graduating from the University of Florida Gainsville, Bill was employed by IBM & then Control Data Corporation retiring in 1985 as a Divisional President. After retirement he was a consultant for Control Data and enjoyed writing, publishing the book `The Selling Starts when the Customer Says No` and for the Annandale Advocate Senior View section. He was a lifelong learner and also enjoyed fishing, motorcycling, college football and his martini.
Survived by his wife, Karen Sommers of Monticello; children & their spouses, Kevin Moody of Minnetonka, Keith & Jayne Moody of Chanhassen, Matt & Lori Moody of Columbia, SC, Tammy Seitel of Minneapolis, Rebecca Moody of Chanhassen; step-sons & their wives, Daniel Sommers of St. Cloud, Timothy & Nancy Sommers of Roseville, Michael & Jen Sommers of Annandale, Patrick Sommers of Minneapolis; sisters, Carlene Hagan of Tampa, FL, Dianna Eberly of Blairsville, GA; 11 grandchildren; also many nieces & nephews. His former wives, Jo-Anne and Susan preceded him in death.
The music for the service will be provided by Michael Sommers, soloist and Sharon Planer, vocalist. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
