Odell `Digger` Schauer, age 62, of South Haven died Friday, June 30, 2006 suddenly but peacefully of cardiac arrest on the family farm.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Thursday, July 6, 2006 at the Church of Christ, Kimball with Pastor Jerry Albert officiating. Burial will follow in the Fair Haven Township Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the Church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Wednesday.
Odell Louis Schauer was born February 7, 1944 in St. Cloud the 2nd of 4 children born to Louis and Marjorie (Capes) Schauer. He was baptized in Concordia Lutheran Church, Fair Haven. Odell was active in sports, FFA, Choir, & Madrigals at Annandale High School from which he graduated in 1962. He married Sandra Morganroth in Annandale on October 15, 1966. They had been married for 30 years and lived in a brick house he built on Dean Lake near Buffalo. Odell had been a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Buffalo. He worked very hard and his talents as a bricklayer were always in demand. He was a member of Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Union Local #1 for 35 years and had retired this past February. He enjoyed time spent with family & friends, fishing, card playing and farming.
He is survived by four children, Laura (Ron) Fiedler of Buffalo, Darren Schauer & fiancAC. Alethia Erotas of Minneapolis, Kevin (Tammy) Schauer of Minneapolis, Robyn (Chris) Wiebers of Mankato; 3 grandsons, Rhett, Brayden & Evan Wiebers; Sandra Schauer of Buffalo; sister, LaVonne (Ernest) Kadlec of South Haven; brothers, David (Pat) Schauer of Kingston, Daryl (Debbie) Schauer of South Haven; many nieces, nephews, other relatives & numerous friends, including Kurt Bauman, Winnie LaVine and Tom Peterson. His parents and infant daughter Stephanie preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be Brandon, Damian, Bryce, & Daryk Schauer, Dean Vinkemeier and Kurt Bauman. The arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
