Norman N. Schermer, age 74, of Annandale, formerly of Silver Creek died Saturday, March 22, 2008 at St. Benedict's Senior Center in St. Cloud.
Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at Silver Creek Community Church. Rev. Tim Overweg will officiate and burial will be in Lakeview Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church. A prayer service will be held 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Norman Neal Schermer was born March 17, 1934 in Silver Creek to Tunis and Jennie (Hofman) Schermer. He married Bernice Weese on June 25, 1955 at the Silver Creek Reformed Church. Norman owned and operated his farm for over 40 years. He was a member of the Silver Creek Community Church, Wright Saddle Club and the Hasty-Silver Creek Sportsman Club. He enjoyed horses, rottweilers, hunting, fishing, traveling & camping. He was a collector of tractors, pocket watches, belt buckles and caps. Norman loved spending time with his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Bernice; children, Marsha Ziebarth of St. Cloud, Kevin (Kim) of Buffalo, Dale (Jean) of South Haven and Gary of Lake Park; brothers, Keith (Sally) of Maple Lake, James (Marlys) of Monticello and Larry (Darla) of Maple Lake; sister, Ora Mae Weidema of Brooklyn Park; 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kathy; and brother-in-law, Tom Weidema.
Pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Melissa and Matthew Ziebarth, Michelle Hartmann, Mark, Michael, Alexis, Becca and Ethan Schermer. Honorary pallbearers will be Roger Holland and Dennis Beise. Don DeBoer and Linda Veches will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale.
