Norman B. O'Konek, age 68, of South Haven, Minnesota passed away peacefully at the St. Cloud Hospital on Friday, January 14, 2022, after a 9-month battle with cancer. At Norm's request, there will be no visitation or funeral service. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Private burial will take place at Mount Hope Cemetery in Clearwater, Minnesota. Norm was born February 1, 1953, to Carl and Audrey (Miller) O'Konek. He was united in marriage to Sharon J. Manthey on July 21, 1973 at Zion Lutheran Church in Annandale. Norm attended high school in Annandale and graduated from Hennepin Technical College with a diploma in Engineering CAD Technology. He worked at Nilfisk-Advance in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota as an engineer for 39 years, and also worked at C4 Welding as a design engineer in Sauk Rapids for 3 years. Norm enjoyed fishing, camping, riding his motorcycle, gardening, working on projects in his shed, and working on his 3-D printer in his spare time. Norm is survived by his wife Sharon; children, Darcie O'Konek, Jason (Tammy) O'Konek, and Jenny (Matthew) Luberda; 5 grandchildren, Alexa, Kolston, Cody, Abigail and Andrew; sister, Carmel (Jerry) Romine; brothers, Dusty (Connie) O'Konek, and Kevin (Patty) O'Konek; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, LeRoy O'Konek; and granddaughter, Kaleigh O'Konek. Norm's body lost the battle with cancer, but his spirit and memory live on in each person who was lucky enough to have known him.
