Nina M. VanVleet, age 84 of Kimball died Sunday, March 8, 2009 at the St. Benedict Senior Community in St. Cloud.
Funeral Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 12, 2009 at the Kimball United Methodist Church. Rev. Heather E. Klason will officiate and burial will be in the Kimball Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Kimball and one hour prior to the service, Thursday at the church.
Nina Mae VanVleet was born August 19, 1924 in Kimball to Alexander and Virginia (Allguer) Kennedy. She married Harold VanVleet on October 4, 1946 at the Kimball United Methodist Church and he preceded her in death on November 3, 2007. Nina worked at the Kimball Post Office, the Mueller Mink Farm in Kimball and as a homemaker. She was a member of the Kimball United Methodist Church, where she taught Vacation Bible School and was in the UMW. She was a Gold Star Mother in the Kimball American Legion Auxiliary Post 261 and was active as a Kimball Cub Scout leader. Nina enjoyed crocheting, cross-stitching, doing crafts, camping and spending time with her family.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Lyndon (Debbie) of St. Cloud, Sara (Larry) Fischer of Clearwater, Alan (Wendy) of Kimball, Roger (Julie) of St. Cloud, Steve (Sherrie) of St. Cloud and David (fiancAC., Sarah Dombrovski) of Kimball; 18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Jeff in 1968; and brother, Milton Kennedy.
Pallbearers will be Nick, Mitch, Matt and Nate VanVleet, Gus Fischer and Jennifer Thompson. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
