Nellie Jo (Hightower) Greely also known as Mom, Nannie, Sister #7, Buela, Creola, Josephine, Big Farkles; age 60, of St. Michael, MN formerly of Aurora, MN died Monday, May 22, 2006 at Cherished Moments, Buffalo.
Visitation will be begin at 1 p.m. with Memorial Services held 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, May 25, 2006 at the Church of Christ, Kimball, MN. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. May 29, 2006 at the Pinkard Funeral Home, Russellville, AL. Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 30, 2006 at the Antioch Baptist Church, Phil Campbell, AL with burial following in the Antioch Cemetery.
`Thank you Lord, I am not alone, I am not broken. What a precious gift... that of being a mother.` Jo was born in Cullman, Alabama. The ninth child of the late Reverend Thomas Duford and Carrie Hightower. Her journey through life took her from Alabama to Washington, DC, Nebraska, Illinois, Florida and Minnesota. Jo loved spending time with her family and friends, she also took a lot of pride and joy in her job as a wedding and event coordinator, and she loved to socialize with people.
She is survived by her husband, Ron Greely of St. Michael; children, Lisa (Rodney) Hazel of Greensboro, NC, Stefanie (Jeff) Nimick of St. Charles, IL, Karen (Adrian) Newis of Greensboro, NC, Angie Lakoskey of Mesa, AZ, Bryan (Kelly) Price of Albertville, MN; step-children, Lori (Tim) Rice of South Haven, MN, Troy (Cheryl) Greely of Plymouth, MN, Trent (Shelly) Greely of Crosby, MN, Ted (Annette) Greely of St. Michael, MN; grandchildren, Spencer, Morgan & Parker Hazel, Isaac, Allison & Christopher Nimick, Colin & Nicholas Newis, Tommy, Shaynee & Trevor Lakoskey and Jaxon Price; step-grandchildren, Ryan, Raymen & Riley Rice, Mikayla, Drew, Noelle, D.J., Shanna, Greg, Amber & Kaia Greely; sisters & brothers, Louise Cagle, Elouise Shelnutt, Betty Faye Mobley, Iva Lee Dobbins, Bobbie Fell, Cuethal Hightower, Eddie Hightower, & Sheila Kimbrough. She was preceded in death by her Mama and Daddy Hightower, brother Ronald Hightower and grandson, Treyce Lakoskey.
The pallbearers in Minnesota will be Drew Greely, Ryan, Raymen & Riley Rice. The pallbearers in Alabama will be Bryan Price, Rodney Hazel, Jeff Nimick & Adrian Newis and the honorary pallbearers will be Jacob Kimbrough, Billy Fell, Zach & Steve Hightower, Josh Hand, Randy & Jeff Dobbins, Michael & James Thornton. In lieu of flowers, please direct memorials to the Alzheimer`s Association, 455 W. 77th St., Minneapolis, MN 55435.
