Neal E. Loudon, age 91, of Kimball passed away October 9, 2013 at the St. Cloud VA Medical Center where he resided since July 2012. Previously he had resided at Washburn Courts in Paynesville.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. with Memorial Services held at 11 a.m. on Monday, October 14, 2013 at the Kimball United Methodist Church with Rev. Ken Felska officiating. Private burial services will be held at Maine Prairie Cemetery, Kimball.
Neal Elmer Loudon was born September 26, 1922 in Watkins to Erwin and Frances (Arnold) Loudon and graduated from Kimball High School in 1940. During WW II from April 1943 to November 1945 he was a member of the U.S. Army landing on Normandy Beach in France and was in two major battles. Neal was twice wounded and was awarded the Purple Heart. He married Ruth Heitke on August 28, 1947 and she preceded him in death on August 3, 2003. They spent most of their married life in Kimball. Neal was a carpenter and owned a turkey farm. He was the owner and operator of school buses for 26 years and hauled students for Kimball School District 739. Neal also owned a tree farm and sold Christmas trees for many years. Neal was active in the City of Kimball. He belonged to the American Legion, Fire Department, & Sportsman's Club and served on the City Council. Neal was a devoted hunter and fisherman; he particularly loved duck hunting.
Neal is survived by his son Jeffrey (Diane) of Deer River; 2 grandsons Chad (Teri) of Zimmerman & Ryan of Grand Rapids; two great grandchildren Chloe and Chase; sister-in-law Betty Pro of Paynesville; and many nieces, nephews & friends. Neal was preceded in death by his wife, three sisters Beverly, Maxine & Lucille, and two brothers Bud & Jack.
The urnbearers will be Chad & Ryan Loudon and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Kimball.
