Myra J. Bruns Demarais Munstenteiger, age 65, of Maple Lake died Saturday, July 18, 2009 at her home after a long, courageous battle with cancer.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Izen officiating. Burial will follow at Marysville Catholic Cemetery, Marysville Township, Wright County. Friends may call at St. Timothy's Catholic Church from 4-8 p.m. Monday and after 10 a.m. Tuesday.
Myra Jane Munstenteiger was born September 23, 1943 at Maple Lake to John Sr. and Helen (Post) Bruns. She married Gerald 'Jerry' Demarais on June 2, 1962. Together they owned the Lester Prairie TV Repair until 1968 when they returned to Maple Lake and operated the Lake Mary Hog Farm. Jerry preceded her in death on January 4, 1992. She married James F. Munstenteiger on January 28, 1995. Myra cooked for Maple Lake Senior Dining, Koinonia Retreat Center, The Pond, and worked as a registered Nursing Assistant at Lakeridge Assisted Living. She was a member of St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Council of Catholic Women, Resurrection Choir, and Women's Card Club. Annually, she attended the Women's Breast Cancer Survival Retreat. She enjoyed gardening, cooking, sewing, playing cards, traveling (keeping the roads hot), and visiting family, friends and neighbors. Each grandchild had a special spot in her heart and she loved each of them for their individual qualities, always attending their special events.
She is survived by her husband James of Maple Lake, children & their spouses Dean & Carla Demarais of Cold Spring, Lisa & Tom Decker of Waverly, Daren & Renee Demarais of Maple Lake, Laurie & Jason Rothers of Sunburg, sisters, brother & their spouses Elaine Anderson of St. Cloud, Charlene & Pete Mavencamp of Maple Lake, John Jr. & Diane Bruns of Maple Lake, Helen & Don Conway of Kansas City, Theresa & Chuck Becker of Monticello, brother-in-law Sonny Carlson of Maple Lake, 11 grandchildren Dean Jr. (Kristina), Malarie, Alexandra, Michaela, Jaret, Justin & Jayce Demarais, Jerika & Logan Decker, Samantha & Jordan Rothers, and a great granddaughter Kaitlyn McDonald. She was preceded in death by her parents, first husband Jerry Demarais, and sister Lola Carlson.
The pallbearers will be her grandchildren and godchildren Dale Demarais and John Carlson. The honorary pallbearers will be Joanne Zander, Jackie Striech, Mary Lou Sherwin, Kathy DeMars, Mary VanOfferen, Kathy Borrell, Mary McBrady, Carla McBrady, Peggy Plaggermann, Rose Saunders and Carol Wurm. The music for the service will be provided by the Resurrection Choir. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
