Melvin A. Lundeen, age 79, of South Haven died at his home on Saturday, September 26, 2009.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, September 30, 2009 at Zion United Methodist Church, South Haven with Pastor Luke C. Nelson officiating. Interment will be at Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 4:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 6 p.m. Tuesday. Memorials are preferred.
Melvin Allan Lundeen was born May 22, 1930 in South Haven to John Elmer and Anna Esther (Leppa) Lundeen. He married Carol A. Thorson on April 13, 1957 in South Haven. Melvin was a master plumber and along with his wife owned & operated Lundeen OK Hardware in South Haven. He was a 31-year member of the South Haven Fire Department and a member of Zion United Methodist Church, St. Cloud Moose Lodge & Sauk Centre Eagles Aerie. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, reading, airplanes and visiting flight museums.
He is survived by his wife Carol of South Haven, children & their spouses Alan & Melissah Lundeen of Karlstad, Linda & Kevin Caird of St. Augusta, Lisa & Allen Hechtel of South Haven, sisters & their husbands Elaine & Don Besonen of Litchfield, Lorraine & Jim Besonen of Minnetonka, nine grandchildren Andrew & Morganne Lundeen, Scott, Ryan & Nicholas Caird, Melissa & Matthew Hechtel, Samanthah Wesner, and Jacob Anderson. His parents, two infant sisters Arlene & Gladys, and two brothers Arnold & Vernon preceded him in death.
The pallbearers will be grandchildren and the honorary pallbearers will be members of the South Haven Fire Department and Auxiliary. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
