Mr. Melvin J. `Mel` Fouquette, age 83, of Maple Lake died Saturday, November 29, 2003 at the VA Medical Center, St. Cloud.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2003 at St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Father Mark Huberty officiating. Burial will follow in St. Charles Cemetery, Chatham Township, Wright County. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Monday and from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. There will be a prayer service 7:30 p.m. on Monday.
Melvin Joseph `Mel` Fouquette was born December 29, 1919 at Maple Lake to Eli and Elizabeth (Paumen) Fouquette. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II. He married Dolores I. Logeais October 1, 1955 in St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale. Mel worked 42 years for United Power Association, Elk River retiring as Line Superintendent in 1983. He lived all his life at Maple Lake where he was a member of St. Timothy`s Catholic Church, Maple Lake American Legion Post # 131, Veteran of Foreign Wars, and Disabled American Veterans. He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus. Mel loved his family, church, work, giving to others, and his cabin on Bass Lake.
Mel is survived by his wife, Dolores of Maple Lake; son, Jerry; daughters, Rita (Barry) Hegle, and Susan Miller all of Annandale; brother, Frank (Shirley) of Buffalo; brother in law, Cliff Hudek of Maple Lake; grandchildren, Kristin, Jessica, and Ashley Hegle, Bryan and Brandon Miller. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Maurice; sister, Lois Hudek; and grandson, Jason Miller.
