Mr. Max D. Zehlke, age 84, of South Haven died Tuesday, November 12, 2002 at home.
Funeral services were held 2:00 p.m. Saturday, November 16, 2002 at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale with Rev. Heather E. McKee officiating. Inurnment was in Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis.
Max David Zehlke was born December 1, 1917 in Mitchell, SD to Frederick and Nellie (Foote) Zehlke. On June 7, 1942 he married Gwendolyn B. Goodall in Willmar and she preceded him in death on May 25, 1993. Max was a veteran of the US Army serving his country during WW II. He worked for the Hennepin County Highway Department as a road construction foreman. Max lived in Texas and Annandale, before moving to South Haven in 1989. He loved woodworking and small engine repair.
Max is survived by a son and two daughters, Allen (Sirarpi) Zehlke of Edina, Catherine Brouwer-Zehlke of South Haven, Violet Goodwin of St. Cloud; nephew, Charles Zehlke; nieces, Margaret Zehlke and Kay Marie Zehlke-Anderson; six grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife; brothers, Alfred and Charles Zehlke.
Arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care, Annandale, Minnesota.
