Mary Kay Moorhous Shir, age 71, of Kimball, died Tuesday, March 19, 2013 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 am Saturday, March 23, 2013 at St. Anne Catholic Church in Kimball with Fr. Thomas Olson as the Celebrant. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery in Mahtomedi. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Friday at Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball Chapel and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the church. A prayer service will be held 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
Mary Kay Shir was born on November 26, 1941 in Bowlus to Walter and Monica (Phillips) Wiatrak. She graduated from St. Francis High School in Little Falls with the Class of 1959. She grew up in Bowlus, raised her family in St. Paul and retired to Kimball. Mary Kay worked as an administrative assistant with numerous employers over the years. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, flower gardening, crafting yard art, painting, making shirts, playing cards, creating ceramics and spending time at the lake. Mary Kay was a passionate woman, loved sharing with others, loved making memories and was always grateful for what she had. She valued her church and her family above all else.
She is survived by her children and their spouses Willy & Anne Moorhous of Oakdale, Kathy & Ron Richter of Young America and Patty & Bob Asmus of South Haven; step-son Rocklin & Deborah Shir of Shoreview; sister Grace & Dale Eberhardt of Baxter; sister-in-law Shirl Wiatrak of Andover; grandchildren Ken, Rick, Jon, Kayt, Korrin, Michael and Noelle; and great grandchildren Nick and Kaden. She is preceded in death by her parents Walter and Monica Wiatrak; husband Robert Shir; and brother David Wiatrak.
