Mary R. Rosival, age 100, of Annandale died Sunday, August 31, 2008 at the Buffalo Hospital.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Thursday, September 4, 2008 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. Michael Izen officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale. Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9-10 a.m. Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake.
Mary Rose Rosival was born November 7, 1907 in Czechoslovakia to Frank & Frances (Haluza) Obadal and immigrated to the United States at the age of seven. She married Edward Rosival on May 26, 1932 in Phillips, WI. Together they farmed in Belle Plaine Township, Scott County until 1958. Mary then worked for 15 years in housekeeping at Queen of Peace Hospital, New Prague. She moved to Annandale in 1972 and lived at Maple Manor Apartments, Maple Lake from 1985-2007. She was a member of St. Timothy's Church, Maple Lake Senior Citizens and Annandale Senior Citizens. She was a former member of Maple Manor Resident Council. Mary's mind retained her life story and visitors eagerly listened to her; she still spoke the Bohemian language. She enjoyed craftwork, crocheting, gardening, artwork, card playing, bingo, and polka & Czech music.
She is survived by a daughter, Mary R. Zahratka of South Haven; daughters in law, Patricia Rosival of LaLuz, NM, Arlene Rosival of Sparks, NV; 14 grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and 9 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband; an infant son; sons Edward & George; daughter Frances Schwartz; grandson Raymond Scholl; brothers James & Joseph Obadal; and a sister Frances Kratovil.
The pallbearers will be Steven & Alan Henke, John, Jesse, & Josh Heid, and Shane Brunner. The music for the service will be provided by St. Timothy's Choir with Marge Pavlik, organist. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
