Mary Jo Guggenberger, age 62, of South Haven, died Wednesday, February 2, 2022 at her home after a 6 year battle with cancer.
The family will host a Celebration of Life will take place from 1-5 p.m. on April 2, 2022 at the Clearwater Legion.
Mary Jo Leonella Guggenberger was born November 15, 1959 in St. Cloud to Claude and Clara (Schroden) Guggenberger. She grew up in St. Cloud and graduated from Apollo High School. She continued her education at St. Cloud State, earning a degree in Art History. She worked as a florist at St. Cloud Floral and as an artist. She co-owned and operated Primitive Origins, where she designed musical animals that were sold at the Minnesota State Fair and sculpted and painted dragons that were sold at Renaissance Festivals around the country. She was known as the "frog lady" at the Minnesota State Fair. On October 17, 2021, she was united in marriage to her long-time partner in life, John Sinclair. Mary Jo enjoyed creating art, gardening, canning, cooking, and being in the great outdoors. She was especially known for her canned pickles. She had a special talent to bring her family together with her home cooked meals. Above all, Mary Jo cherished the time she was able to spend with her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, John Sinclair; sons, Nathan (Holly) Petron of South Haven and Spencer Petron (Natasha Michael) of Annandale; grandchildren, Novalee, Alex, Noah, Carter and Avery; sisters and brothers, Bob Guggenberger, Angie Nelson (Ward), Pat Guggenberger (Doug), Carl (Terri) Guggenberger, Tom (Linda) Guggenberger, and Dan Guggenberger (Robby); and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and other relatives. She was preceded in death by her parents Claude and Clara Guggenberger; brother, Ervin Guggenberger; brothers-in-law, Charlie Nelson and Gary Olson; niece, Jessica Guggenberger; and ex-husband, Roger Petron.
