Obituary

Marvin J. Rasset, age 93 of Annandale, died Tuesday, September 2, 2014 at his residence.

Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, September 6, 2014 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale.  Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Annandale.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, Saturday, at the church.

Marvin John Rasset was born on November 28, 1920 in Maple Lake to Joseph and Leah (LaFave) Rasset.  He was baptized and confirmed at St. Timothy's Catholic Church in Maple Lake.  Marvin married Grace V. Olson on February 12, 1945 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale.  He is a member of St. Ignatius, where he was a Eucharistic Minister for 12 years and a former member of the Knights of Columbus.  He was one of the original members of the Annandale Lions Club and served on the Annandale Fire Department for 25 years.  He was a long time member of the Annandale Conservation Club and Trap Shooting Team; he was one of the 5 shooters on the winning Trap Team that brought home the Wright County Trophy.

Marv farmed, worked as a bartender for 9 years and was co-owner of the Annandale Hatchery and Produce for 35 years.  He owned and operated Marv's Bait Shop for 17 years along with his wife and children; it is now known as Little Jim's Bait Shop.  Marv retired in 1981 and moved into the city of Annandale where he lived his remaining years.

He enjoyed auctions and flea markets.  He was a very social person and loved bowling, fishing, hunting, gardening, selling his auction treasures, singing and yodeling, playing cards and most importantly, having a good laugh and visiting with his family and friends.

Marvin was a loving husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa and was everyone's friend.  He was especially known for his hearty laugh, cheery disposition and out-going personality.  He will be deeply missed by all that loved and knew him.

Marvin is survived by his wife Grace; children James (Bonna) Rasset of Ortonville, Bonnie (Dean) Hoglund, Dennis (Mary Lou) Rasset and Don (Sue) Rasset all of Annandale; Patricia Rasset of Edina and Dave (Shelley) Rasset of Annandale; 10 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.  He is preceded in death by six brothers, four sisters and one granddaughter.

Music for the service will be provided by St. Ignatius Music Ministry.  In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.  Arrangements are entrusted with Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
