Marvin G. Howard, age 73, of Annandale, died Friday, October 30, 2020 at his home.

Graveside Funeral Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 4, 2020 at Woodlawn Cemetery with Rev. David Nelson officiating. Please dress appropriately for the weather and bring a lawn chair to sit in. Visitation and viewing will be held 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday and 11:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale. Viewing is also available without the family present from 10:30-11:30 a.m. on Wednesday morning. Public health recommendations will be followed at all events.

Marvin George Howard was born October 7, 1947 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Russell and Doris (Houchins) Howard. Marv grew up in Annandale with his three siblings, where he attended Annandale High School, graduating with the Class of 1965. He served his country in the Army National Guard. Marv worked alongside his Dad most of his life, and in 1992 Marv took over operations at Howard's Plumbing and Heating. He remained working in the plumbing, heating, and air conditioning fields until his retirement in 2010; when his son, Buck, took over the family business. On August 16, 1991, Marv was united in marriage to Karin Handeland at Annandale United Methodist Church. They made their home on Clearwater Lake, where they enjoyed life on the lake, whether it be pontooning or hosting family and friends. Marv was a member of the Maple Lake American Legion and the Annandale Conservation Club. He was a firefighter with the Annandale Fire Department for 21 years, where he had served as Assistant Fire Chief. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, bowling, and sharing a beer with friends. Of all the enjoyment life can bring, being grandpa to his seven grandchildren was at the top of Marv's list.

Marv is survived by his wife of 29 years, Karin of Annandale; children, Bret "Buck" (Ann) Howard of South Haven and Katie (Jeff) Jones of Annandale; 7 grandchildren, Collin, Cameron, Jack, and Victoria Howard, and Logan, Landon, and Kali Jones; siblings, Joanne (Jim) Simones of Walker, Susan (Mark) Huro of South Haven, and Jim (friend, Georgine Gravdal) of Annandale; siblings-in-law, Tom (Sue) Handeland of Marshall, Jackie Handeland of South Haven, Donny (Stacy) Handeland of Maple Lake, Carol (Fadi) Masarweh of San Leandro, CA, Marleen Handeland of St. Cloud, and Arleen Schacht of Minneapolis; and numerous nieces, nephews, other family members, employees, and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Russ and Doris; mother-in-law, Ann Handeland; and brother-in-law, Chuck Schacht.

Marv's grandchildren will serve at pallbearers. Military honors will be provided by the Maple Lake American Legion and VFW honor guard. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Annandale.
