Obituary

Mark A. Verhey, age 69, of Kimball, formerly of Annandale, died Wednesday, March 8, 2023, at his home after a short battle with cancer with family at his side. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, March 14, 2023 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale with Fr. Kevin Magner as the Celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Annandale and one hour prior to the service on Tuesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Moments Hospice. Mark Anthony Verhey was born September 17, 1953, in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Anthony and Dorothy (Logeais) Verhey. Mark grew up in Annandale, where he graduated from high school in 1971. Mark then obtained his degree in industrial electronics in 1973 from St. Cloud Technical College. On September 19, 1975, Mark was united in marriage to Karen Kay Haddock at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Annandale. Mark and Karen made their home in Annandale, where they raised their three children, Tony, Theresa, and Tara. For over 25 years, Mark owned and operated Tony's Auto Service in Annandale where he worked as a mechanic. He then went to work for M&M Bus Company in Maple Lake. Mark was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church, as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus. Mark gave back to his community as a member of the Annandale Fire Department, in addition to serving on the Annandale Planning and Zoning Committee for 10 years. Mark truly enjoyed spending time outdoors, whether it be gardening, snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, or camping. He loved to take saunas with his friends and spend time with his family. Mark is survived by his wife of 47 years, Karen Verhey of Kimball; children, Anthony "Tony" (Melissa) Verhey of Kimball, Theresa (Jason) Schmidt of Becker, Tara (Chris) Ramsdell of Ft. Ripley; adoring grandchildren, Tayler, Kayla, Lily, Gabe, Hunter, Hayden, Seth, and Sage; sisters, Vicki (Mike) Zieska of Maple Lake, and Sally Verhey of Coon Rapids; and many nieces, nephews, other family members, and friends. Mark was preceded in death by his parents, Tony and Dorothy Verhey. Tony Verhey, Tayler Verhey, Jason Schmidt, and Gabe Schmidt will serve as urn bearers.
