Marjorie Alice Linn was born on May 26, 1915 in Fairhaven, MN to Louis and Caroline (Helgeson) Filbert. She was baptized into Christ's family at the Kimball Church of Christ. Marjorie married Lloyd Linn on January 9, 1934 at the Church of Christ in Kimball. Lloyd and Marjorie lived a life of conviction based on principles, not preferences. Marjorie and Lloyd farmed in the Kimball area until Lloyd's death in 1973. She moved to Kimball for a few years before retiring at their home by Carnelian Lake, where she resided until moving to Hilltop Care Center in 2005. Marjorie enjoyed gardening, fishing, berry picking, playing cards and bingo. Above all, she loved being with family and friends. She was never too busy, visitors were always made to feel welcome and that they were the most important part of her day. When someone stopped in she would put on a fresh pot of coffee, slice some home baked bread and bring out some of her homemade preserves or apple butter. A visit from her grandchildren would have her stirring up pancakes and frying them on the griddle in requested animal shapes. Marjorie loved to garden, and didn't let a single produce item go to waste. She took pride in her stocked fruit cellar. Jars full and glistening all perfectly placed in rows according to their content. Being very creative, Marjorie enjoyed sewing, knitting, quilting and shaping Christmas ornaments out of salt dough. She also loved to write poetry especially about her childhood. She had a "can do" spirit. Having had polio at age two and having to learn to walk again gave her a drive and determination that carried her throughout her life. Her smile, warmth and love of life will be missed by all those who knew her.
Marjorie is survived by daughters and sons-in-law, Donna and Harley Hendrickson, Darlene and James McKenzie and Judy and Ralph Schultz; grandchildren, Lisa VanVleet and Dan Lyksett, Bill VanVleet, Robin and Rick Wier, Jeffrey and Diane McKenzie, Jay and Cathy McKenzie, Kirk and Jean Schultz, and Kevin and Lorina Schultz; 10 great-grandchildren; 5 great-great-grandchildren; sister-in-law Mabel Linn; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Lloyd, siblings, Mabel Hugger, Arthur Filbert, John Filbert, Mildred Triden, George Filbert, Lester Filbert and Merlyn Busse, and son-in-law, Robert VanVleet.
Marjorie's grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
