Obituary
Lucille L. Hunz, age 89, of Annandale died Thursday, December 19, 2013 at her home under the care of hospice.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday, December 23, 2013 at St. Ignatius Catholic Church, Annandale with Fr. Victor Valencia officiating. Burial will follow at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be at the church on Monday beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Lucille Lillian Hunz was born December 4, 1924 in North Dakota to Herbert and Ruth (Evens) Meyer. As a young girl, Lucille and her family moved to St. Cloud where she attended school. Following the 8th grade, her family moved to Delano. On April 24, 1944, Lucille was united in holy matrimony to Ray Henry Hunz at St. Bartholomew's Catholic Church in Wayzata. Together, they moved to Plymouth where she worked in various restaurants, while raising her 5 children. In 1960, Lucille began working as a cook for Wayzata School District #284. In 1977, she retired from the school. Lucille and Ray moved to Annandale in 1984, where they have resided since.
Lucille was a member of St. Ignatius Catholic Church. She enjoyed traveling, knitting, playing cards, going to the casino to play slot machines, and dressing classy to go dancing at the Medina Ballroom with Ray. Lucille's greatest enjoyment was the time she spent with her family.
She is survived by her husband of 69 years, Ray "Pops" of Annandale, children, Bonnie (David) Cornelius of Albertville, MN, Shirley (Dick) Engstrom of Dayton, MN, Ron Hunz of Anchorage, AL, and Mike Hunz of Buffalo, MN; 8 grandchildren, Neil, Shawn, Jocelyn, Tyler, Jackie, Jennie, Jeremy and Natasha; 12 great grandchildren; siblings, Donna Olson of Laughlin, NV, Leon (Carol) Meyer of Hackensack, MN and Butch (Diane) Meyer of Greenfield, MN. Lucille was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Hunz, Jr., daughter-in-law, Jill Hunz, her parents, and siblings, Joyce Ocrutt and Frances Bock.
The pallbearers will be Neil Engstrom, Shawn Cornelius, Tyler Hunz, Jerry Holm, Fred Busch, and Butch Meyer. The music for the service will be provided by St. Ignatius Music Ministry and the arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial & Cremation Services of Annandale.
