She was born September 12, 1930 in South Haven to the late Reginald and Eleanor (Helget) Howard. Lorene went to secretarial school after graduating from Annandale High School in 1948. She was excellent at typing and shorthand and enjoyed the various secretarial jobs she held. She married Russell J. Baker on May 23, 1953 at St. Timothy's Catholic Church. He preceded her in death in 2005. Having a love for numbers, Lorene enjoyed her work as a bookkeeper and as a teller at Security State Bank until her retirement in 1984. Lorene and Russ made the most of their retirement years with casino trips, travel to Hawaii and many years of following the Twins to Florida for spring training. She was a member St. Timothy's Catholic Church and American Legion Post #131 Auxiliary.

She is survived by 3 children, Alan (Joan) of Volga, SD, Pam (Marc) Elvy of Seattle, WA, Jerry (Sherri) of Pearl Lake and 4 grandchildren, Sarah, Steve, Dave & Nick Baker.

Lorene had a kind heart and a smile for everyone she met. Even in the final stages of dementia her sweet nature came through. She will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved her. Thank you to the care teams from Prairie River Home Care, Guardian Angels Hospice, Buffalo Hospital, Country Manor Campus and St. Cloud Hospice for the loving care you provided.

The pallbearers will be Lorene's grandchildren along with Les & Dar Paumen. The music for the service will be provided by Marge Pavlik, organist and the St. Timothy's Resurrection Choir. The arrangements were entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care of Maple Lake.
