Lillian J. Salmela, age 93, of 7116 Rosewood Ave. NW, South Haven died Saturday, August 13, 2005 at her residence.
Memorial services will be held 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2005 at Lake Union Covenant Church, 74246 CSAH 19, South Haven with Rev. Michael McCain officiating. Interment will be in the Cokato Cemetery. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Annandale and one hour prior to services at the church. There will be a prayer service 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Lillian Jessie Salmela was born August 9, 1912 in Loda, IL to Henry and Olive Victoria (Parsons) Bogart. She married Arnold Paulson on August 20, 1930 and he died on May 29, 1948. She married Everett Salmela on March 7, 1956 and he preceded her in death on July 27, 1963. Lillian was a homemaker and member of Lake Union Covenant Church. She enjoyed raising chickens, quilting and gardening.
She is survived by 12 children & their spouses, Kenneth & Shirley Paulson of Dassel, Shirley & Alfred Habisch of Sturgeon Lake, Richard & Vonnie Paulson of Kimball, Jeannette & Donald Shipp of Forest Lake, Wayne & Nyla Paulson of Kimball, Donna Paulson of Waconia, June & Ted Johnson of Reno, NV, Terry & Paul Flatt of Litchfield, Caleb & Linda Salmela, Robert & Kris Salmela, Roger & Susie Salmela, and Donald Salmela, all of South Haven; sister, Juanita Anderson & her husband Delphin of Minneapolis; 48 grandchildren; 74 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her two husbands; son, Howard Salmela; 2 sisters, Mary Carlson-Neilson & Ollie Pettit; 5 grandchildren, Joseph Habisch, Joseph Alfred Habisch, Bruce Paulson, Caleb Salmela, Jr., Brent Weibel; and a great great grandson, Tristin Paulson.
The organist for the service will be Marleigh Rumsey and the arrangements were by Dingmann Funeral Care of Annandale.
