Obituary
Mr. Lester C. Robinson, age 96, of Inver Grove Heights died Thursday, December 4, 2008 in the home of his daughter, Jill Kilzer, in Apple Valley, Minnesota.
Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008 at St. Anne's Catholic Church, Kimball. Fr. Tom Olson and Fr. Frank Tomasiewicz will officiate and entombment will be in St. Anne Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call one hour prior to services, Tuesday at the church. Memorials are preferred to Trinity Missions, 836 E. Magnolia, St. Paul 55106.
Lester Cocagne Robinson was born October 30, 1912 in Wadena, Minnesota to Cocagne Robinson and Ida (Sebekow) Robinson. He worked in various capacities for Red Owl, but in 1942 he sold his store in Clarissa, enlisted and served in the Army Air Force during WWII in London.
He married Geneveive Fox on March 1, 1946 in Wadena and together they owned and operated the Red Owl Grocery Store in Kimball from 1946-1974. He was a member of the Kimball Development Club, American Legion. At St. Anne's Catholic Church he served as trustee, lector, and Eucharistic minister for many years. In retirement he worked at the Annandale Red Owl, volunteered at Kimball Elementary for eight years, and cared for his wife in their own home until her death in 2003. At that point he left Kimball to reside in an independent living apartment at Presbyterian Homes of Inver Grove Heights and became a beloved member of that community.
He is survived by his daughters & their husbands, Mary Jo & Kent Jamison of St. Paul, Jill Ann & William Kilzer of Apple Valley, and his four grandchildren Ben & Andrea Jamison, Michael & John Kilzer. He is preceded in death by his siblings, Mary, Lilly, Angie, Myrtle, Ruth, Edith, George and Frank.
Frosty Schiefelbein, organist and Bonnie Faber, soloist will provide the music for the service. Arrangements are entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care, Kimball.
