Lester C. Paumen, age 91, of Maple Lake, died Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Cokato Manor. Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2020 at St. Timothy Catholic Church, Maple Lake with Fr. John Meyer as Celebrant. Attendance in the church will be limited due to current health department capacity limitations. Burial will follow at St. Timothy Catholic Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 3-7 p.m. Tuesday and 9-10 a.m. Wednesday, both at Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel, Maple Lake. Face coverings, physical distancing and capacity guidelines will be observed. The service will be live-streamed on the funeral home's website. Lester Conrad Paumen was born November 11, 1928, at his family home in Maple Lake, the son of Jacob and Philomena "Minnie" (Wurm) Paumen. He attended school in Annandale, where he graduated with the Class of 1948. On September 18, 1951, Lester C. Paumen and Darlene M. Beauchamp were joined in holy matrimony at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. God blessed their marriage with seven children, Patricia, Gordon, Marie, Roger, Lynn, James and Douglas. Les honorably served his country in the United States Army as an MP for 18 months while stationed in California and Washington; he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. Upon his discharge, he returned to Waverly to run Dar's family farm after her brother and father died in 1954. As a family, they made their home on the farm while continuing the operation. Les was a member of the Maple Lake American Legion Post 131. He was a member of St. Timothy Catholic Church during his younger years. After his marriage, Les and his family were members of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Waverly. They remained members until 1988, when he and Dar moved to Maple Lake and then again became members of St. Timothy's Catholic Church. Les enjoyed fishing, hunting, and constantly being on the go with his friends. He would visit friends and relatives in nursing homes often to help them pass the time. Les is survived by his children, Patti (Henry) Becker, Gordy (Jan) Paumen, Marie "Missie" (Jim) Dooley, Roger (Cindy) Paumen, Lynn (Larry) Lindenfelser, Jim (Judy) Paumen and Doug (Paula) Paumen ; 17 grandchildren, 3 step-grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, 5 step-great-grandchildren; siblings, Orville (Rita) Paumen and Beatrice (Doug) Psyk; and many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Darlene Paumen; father, Jacob Paumen; mother, Philomena Paumen; brothers, Clayton and Clifford Paumen; and sisters, Margaret Rathje and Doris Mae Guggemos. The casket bearers will be Jake Paumen, Troy Lindenfelser, Tony Paumen, Dillon Paumen, Niki Engler and Jenny Schwartz. Arrangements entrusted to Dingmann Funeral Care Burial and Cremation Services of Maple Lake.
